David Romeo-Guitart is a permanent INSERM researcher (CRCN) and principal investigator within Dr. Franck Oury's Integrative Neurobiology team. He studied Biotechnology at the Universitat de Lleida, and completed a master's and PhD in Neuroscience at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2017. During his doctoral studies under the guidance of Dr. Caty Casas, he worked on the role of autophagy in neuronal death and regeneration. Subsequently, Dr. Romeo-Guitart developed expertise in body-brain communication, conducting his postdoctoral research with support from a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fellowship. He obtained a permanent CRCN position at INSERM in 2025 and his HDR in 2026. His research axes combine molecular biology, in vivo mouse behavior, and aging biology to dissect how peripheral signals and epigenetics shape memory and cognition over the lifespan. He is broadly interested in the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying age-related neuronal dysfunctions.
