Seminar topic: Revealing cellular programs that shape successful immune activation

After completing her PhD at the Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna, Eva Kiermaier pursued a short postdoctoral stay at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona before joining the laboratory of Michael Sixt at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) in Klosterneuburg. In 2017, she was awarded the NNF Young Investigator Award and funding through the Returning Experts Program of North Rhine-Westphalia, which enabled her to establish her independent research group at the University of Bonn in 2018. Since then, her lab has focused on elucidating cellular programs that govern effective immune activation, with particular emphasis on cytoskeletal dynamics. In 2025, she was appointed Full Professor at the University of Erlangen, and her group is currently transitioning from the LIMES Institute to the Medical Faculty in Erlangen.
