Cross Cutting Edges funding awarded to Nicolas Dupont for the PolluRein project

Nicolas Dupont has been awarded funding from Université Paris Cité as part of the Crossing Cutting Edges call for proposals, for the project PolluRein (The role of atmospheric particulate matter in chronic kidney disease progression), in collaboration with Prof. Patrice Coll’s laboratory (Laboratoire Interuniversitaire des Systèmes Atmosphériques LISA – UMR 7583).

Pollution is a major public health concern. Numerous epidemiological studies have shown an association between exposure to fine particulate matter (PM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD), which is marked by a progressive loss of kidney function. However, the mechanisms underlying this association remain poorly understood.

PolluRein aims to explore how PM may contribute to CKD progression, through innovative experimental approaches and controlled exposure to realistic atmospheres generated in the laboratory (PolluRisk platform). The project could help identify specific PMs as potential risk factors in disease aggravation.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the progress of this promising project — stay tuned!
