We are pleased to announce that Dr. Franck OURY, head of the team Integrative neurobiology (INEM), is the recipient of the first award of the Foundation Necker Enfants-Malades (2020). This award is attributed in recognition of innovative work in the field of integrative physiology and to encourage risk taking in science.
The main focus of the Dr. Oury’s team is to explore how brain functions are modulated by hormonal factors. Using multidisciplinary approaches, his laboratory demonstrates that the maintenance of the hormonal homeostasis is essential for the resilience of cognitive functions and brain plasticity. They also demonstrate the proheminent role of autophagy as a mediator of this regulation. This work open new therapeutic pespectives to prevent/treat age-related cognitive and metabolic decline, which represent today a major societal challenge.
