Investigating Hematopoiesis and Erythropoiesis in Sickle Cell Disease

Maria is a postdoctoral researcher at tthe Laboratory of Molecular Mechanisms of Hematological Disorders and Therapeutic Implications at Institut Imagine (INSERM U1163), led by Professor Olivier Hermine and supervised by Dr. Sara El Hoss and Dr. Thiago Trovati Maciel. Her field of work has been strongly associated with sickle cell disease, and she has acquired expertise in red blood cell biology, hematopoietic stem cell research, and gene therapy through international research experiences. Her current work investigates the role of inflammation in sickle cell disease, aiming to better understand how inflammatory processes influence hematopoiesis, disease severity, and pregnancy.
