Dr. Federica Mantovani is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Dr. Singh’s team at INEM, where she leads wet lab projects focused on transposable elements.

She holds a BSc in Biotechnology from the University of Siena and an MSc in Medical Biotechnologies from the University of Padua, completed with an Erasmus research project at Motol University Hospital in Prague focusing on cytokines in autoinflammatory diseases. In 2024, she earned her PhD with highest honors from the School of Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in computational analysis of human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) regulation during HIV infection. Before joining  the INEM in 2026, she worked as a Research Technician at IRB, investigating anti-cytokine autoantibodies in HIV patients.

Blending a strong wet-lab foundation with advanced bioinformatics expertise, her research interests center on mobile genetic elements, viral-host interactions, and immunology. She has authored first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals including Genes and Microbiology Spectrum.
